BMC Allocates ₹15 Lakh Per Ward For Pre-Diwali Cleanliness Drive
Mumbai's BMC launches cleanliness drive to curb road dust. Targets major roads from October 28 to November 7.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has allocated ₹15 lakh per ward for a pre-Diwali cleanliness drive.
The drive, which starts on October 28 and ends on November 7, aims to reduce road dust on major arterial roads and dust-prone stretches.
Mechanised sweeping, intensive cleaning, and water sprinkling will be used to curb dust levels. Key stretches targeted include the BKC Connector, SCLR, and Eastern and Western Express Highways.
The BMC will deploy mechanical sweepers, JCBs, and misting machines to tackle road dust. Daily reports will be filed to track progress, with geo-tagged before-and-after photographs and video clips.
The drive is part of the BMC's efforts to protect Mumbai's Air Quality Index (AQI) during winter. Assistant engineers, assistant health officers, and supervisors will monitor the drive and maintain daily records of locations covered and waste collected.
