3,865 pilgrims depart Jammu for Amarnath shrine in second batch

The second batch of pilgrims embarked on their journey towards the Shri Amarnath Ji shrine from Jammu on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in this year's Amarnath Yatra. The group comprises 3,865 registered devotees who have completed the mandatory registration process and received clearance from authorities to undertake the pilgrimage to one of Hinduism's holiest sites.

Yatra officials have issued a strong directive that only pilgrims whose names appear on the official registration list will be permitted to proceed on the designated routes. This strict enforcement comes as thousands of unregistered individuals continue to arrive at the base camps, hoping to participate in the annual journey. Officials have instructed these pilgrims to remain patient and wait for their assigned travel dates, as the availability of tatkal or emergency registration slots has become severely constrained due to overwhelming demand.

The pilgrimage to Amarnath involves traversing challenging high-altitude terrain through two primary routes: the Baltal path and the Pahalgam trail. Given the demanding nature of the journey and safety concerns, authorities have deployed comprehensive security arrangements along both routes. Armed escorts accompany pilgrim batches to ensure their protection and safe passage through potentially hazardous sections of the route.

The registration protocol has been implemented to manage the massive influx of devotees effectively and ensure proper crowd control at the shrine. The staggered batch system allows authorities to monitor the number of pilgrims on the routes at any given time, reducing congestion and minimizing risks associated with high-altitude travel during the summer season. This approach also helps maintain order at base camps and ensures adequate logistical support for each group.

Pilgrims are advised to complete their registration well in advance of their intended travel dates rather than relying on last-minute tatkal slots. Officials have repeatedly cautioned that those arriving without proper documentation or registration will face delays and may not be allowed to proceed immediately. The yatra is expected to continue throughout the summer season, with additional batches scheduled to depart in the coming weeks following the established registration schedule.
