Drunk driver arrested after injuring two elderly citizens in Kamothe

A reckless drunk driver has been booked by police in Kamothe after striking down two elderly residents in a hit-and-run incident. The accident, which occurred in the Navi Mumbai locality, left both senior citizens nursing injuries from the impact.

According to police records, the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol when the collision happened. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported seeing the car strike the two elderly people before the driver fled the location. Authorities have initiated a formal investigation and registered a case against the unknown motorist under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.

The injured seniors were immediately taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their current condition and extent of injuries have not been officially disclosed, though initial reports suggest both were conscious when rushed to hospital. Police officers from the local station have begun collecting evidence from the accident site and gathering statements from witnesses who saw the incident unfold.

This incident adds to the growing concern over drunk driving incidents in the Navi Mumbai region. Traffic authorities have been intensifying enforcement drives across major roads to catch inebriated drivers, though violations continue. The reckless behaviour not only endangers the driver themselves but also puts innocent pedestrians and other motorists at severe risk.

The Kamothe police have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend the accused driver. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to gather details about the vehicle and its registration. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could help in locating the suspect. The case remains under active investigation as police work to ensure the accused faces appropriate legal action.
