FM Sitharaman Invites Global CEOs To Invest In India

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a strong pitch to global CEOs to invest in India, highlighting the country's growing economic opportunities.

In meetings with top executives in New York, Sitharaman pointed to India's fast-growing economy and reform-driven policies as key factors creating fresh opportunities for global companies.

She discussed opportunities in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies with Tillman Holdings Chairman and CEO Sanjeev Ahuja. Sitharaman highlighted recent policy and Budget measures aimed at encouraging digital infrastructure investment in India, including the development of large-scale, sustainable and resilient digital infrastructure campuses.

The Finance Minister also met with Marsh Re CEO Dean Klisura and strategy head Devanshu Dhyani, highlighting India's large domestic market, skilled workforce, expanding infrastructure, and digital capabilities. She pointed to India's 7.8% GDP growth in Q1 FY27 as evidence of the country's economic momentum.

Marsh Re expressed interest in expanding its India presence and strengthening engagement with GIFT City. Sitharaman also met BNY Mellon Group COO Alejandro Perez to discuss deeper investment by global financial institutions.

Perez described India as a critical market in BNY Mellon's global growth strategy, with its operations increasingly becoming a hub for innovation, technology, and AI. Discussions covered India's Digital Public Infrastructure, Global Capability Centres, and GIFT City-IFSC.

Sitharaman invited BNY Mellon to explore investment opportunities available at GIFT City. The Finance Minister's pitch to global CEOs comes as India's economy is expected to grow at a rapid pace, with the UN revising India's economic growth downward to 6.3% for 2025.

Despite this, India remains an attractive destination for foreign investors, with its large domestic market, skilled workforce, and expanding infrastructure making it an ideal location for businesses looking to tap into emerging technologies.

The Indian government has implemented various policies and initiatives to encourage investment in the country, including the development of GIFT City, a financial hub located in Gujarat.

GIFT City is expected to become a major financial centre, with several global financial institutions already setting up operations there. The city is designed to provide world-class infrastructure and facilities to financial institutions, making it an attractive destination for businesses looking to invest in India.

Overall, Sitharaman's pitch to global CEOs highlights the opportunities available in India and the government's commitment to creating a favorable business environment.

As India continues to grow and develop, it is likely to become an increasingly important destination for foreign investors, with its large domestic market, skilled workforce, and expanding infrastructure making it an ideal location for businesses looking to tap into emerging technologies.
