Cristiano Ronaldo Wins BOAT Award
Ronaldo's 2008 season beats Messi's 91-goal campaign. Fans voted worldwide.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the inaugural BOAT award for his 2008 Manchester United season.
The award was given after massive voting from fans worldwide. Ronaldo's 2008 season was recognised as the best-ever individual year in football.
Ronaldo edged past Lionel Messi to secure the award. The voters preferred CR7's first-ever Ballon d'Or title win over Messi's 91-goal season in 2012.
The BOAT award was introduced by France Football to settle which Ballon d'Or season stands above the rest. The nomination list featured players who had won the Ballon d'Or multiple times.
The fans had to pay a fee of one euro to vote, and the organisers entered all the participating voters into a prize draw for two tickets to the 2027 Ballon d'Or ceremony. Over 5,000 individuals voted multiple times to make sure their favourite player/campaign emerged victorious.
