Pradeep Purnekar, Thane division head of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), was murdered a month ago.

The Thane Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the crime.

Amit Sing, one of the arrested, has confessed to the killing but not disclosed the motive.

Police are still investigating and have recorded statements from 12 key witnesses.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is working to uncover the motive and identify the mastermind behind the conspiracy.

Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Punjabrao Ugle defended the probe, stating that investigations are moving in the right direction.

He warned against taking the law into one's own hands and disrupting public order, citing recent protests in Thane.

The police will initiate legal action against anyone attempting to obstruct the ongoing probe.

The case is being closely monitored by senior officials, and a chargesheet will be filed in court once comprehensive evidence is gathered.
