Congress Retains Nagpur MLC Seat By 3,271 Votes

Congress candidate Abhijeet Wanjari has retained the Nagpur Division Graduates' constituency seat, defeating his closest BJP rival by 3,271 votes.

Wanjari secured 67,231 votes, while the BJP's Sudhakar Kohale secured 63,960 votes. The counting of votes began on Tuesday morning and concluded on Thursday.

This is a significant setback for the BJP, as Nagpur is the hometown of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who had campaigned extensively for Kohale.

The Nagpur Division Graduate constituency was previously represented by Union Minister Gadkari, who was the MLC for several terms. Wanjari had defeated BJP candidate Sandip Joshi in the last election.
